June 2011 saw the 5th year of the JFC Golf Charity Event held in Claremorris Golf Club. Over 50 teams took part over 2 days and over €11,000 was raised for Pieta House. The format for the golf was a 4 Ball AM AM with a Shot-Gun start on Friday 17th June at 1.30 pm. The cost of a team was just 200 euro which included a BBQ steak dinner at the clubhouse. A great range of unusual and very valuable prizes were on offer compliments of JFC and a number of other sponsors.

Pieta House is a centre for the prevention of self-harm and suicide. There are already Pieta House Centres in Dublin and Limerick but the proceeds of this charity event are going solely to help set up such a centre in the West of Ireland.

The 1st prize for the winners of the JFC Golf Charity event was a trip to St Andrews “The Home of Golf” sponsored by JFC. Joan Freeman, Pieta House Founder - stated that they are extremely grateful to John Concannon and JFC for choosing Pieta House as their designated Charity for this years Golf charity event. She also thanked all the various teams for taking part and the large number of generous sponsors. She paid tribute to Claremorris Golf Club for facilitating JFC in hosting this special Charity event.

John Concannon spoke passionately about the effects suicide is having all over Ireland but especially in rural areas. “This is something that is devastating every community in the country and its time we met the problem head on. Pieta house is doing great work in this area and JFC as a company will continue to support it in any way we can”

JFC wishes to thank all the people and businesses who generously contributed to this year’s event and look forward to your continued support in 2012!
